Is this course right for me?

Do I need any prior knowledge or experience with AI?

No. There’s no prior knowledge assumed. The course is accessible to anyone. You just need to be able to use a laptop, smart phone or tablet to get started.

What if my business isn’t in tech — will this still be relevant?

Yes. The course is deliberately platform-agnostic and sector-agnostic — it’s designed to help a small business in any sector get started with AI. In fact, we think that it’s the businesses who aren’t in tech who can get some of the biggest results from using AI.

I’m not confident with computers generally — is this still for me?

Yes — you don’t need to be an IT whizz to access this course, you just need to be able to use a laptop, smart phone or tablet to get started.

About the course

Do I need to bring a laptop?

You’ll be required to bring a smart phone, laptop or tablet to your course. The requirements vary by course and are shown on each course page. Exact instructions will be sent on sign-up.

How many people will be in the session?

Up to 8 participants. We deliberately keep each course small, so that everyone has time to ask questions and benefit from group discussions.

Is this legal or data protection advice?

No — we’re not lawyers. Our courses cover topics such as using AI safely and responsibly, but we provide training and guidance, not legal or data protection advice for your specific business. You should speak with a solicitor about any specific data protection questions you have regarding your business and your data.

Will you cover specific tools like ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes, our introductory course introduces the major AI tools currently in use in the UK today. We also offer product-specific training, once you’ve decided which AI tool you want to start using in your business.

Government and standards

Is the course approved by the government?

No. Vant Academy is independent, and isn’t approved or endorsed by the government. However, we’ve built our courses with Skills England’s AI Foundation Skills for Work benchmark in mind. Published in January 2026, the benchmark sets out six foundation skills people need to use AI safely and well at work. Our introduction course covers five of them; the sixth, automating routine work, is taught in our AI Agents and Automation course. The course page shows exactly where each skill is covered.

Will I get the government’s AI Skills Boost badge?

Not from this course. The AI Skills Boost badge comes from short, free online courses run by the government’s industry partners, and ours is an in-person course outside that programme. These online courses would be a great way to consolidate your learning once you’ve completed the introductory course.

Dates, venues and booking

Where do courses run?

Rotating venues across London and Kent — see our locations page.

How much does it cost?

The price for each course is given on the course page. We may be able to offer a discount on courses which are delivered at your place of work.

What happens if I can’t make the date I booked?

Let us know as soon as you can. You can send someone else in your place at any time, or move to another date for free up to 7 days before your course. If you cancel at least 7 days before, or within 14 days of booking, you’ll get a full refund. Full details are in our booking terms.

What if there isn’t a course running near me?

We’re always looking for new locations where there is a demand for our courses. If there isn’t one running near you, register your interest and tell us your area.
